Vacations in December

One good thing about vacations in December. You don’t have to worry about bugs. Things that are mentally bugging you is another thing. It’s the end of the year. Did you fulfill your New Years resolutions?  Or did you think, ‘what’s the point. I did make a few resolutions last year, didn’t get half of them done. So why set myself up for disappointment.’

Every day I go a make a list of 3 things that are important to get done. The other things take some time. I have to keep chipping away at the list. Concentrate on studying. There isn’t learning a book or video on how to play the guitar like Eddie Van Halen overnight. You just have to practice everyday.

Now it’s the last few days of my vacation. Being at home is a great vacation spot. The room is clean and comfortable. I have a local public library card. So I have plenty to read. There is plenty of things to do in town. Lots of restaurants to get a bite to eat. Plus with the other towns that are within an hours drive. There are even more things to do and see. I love my vacation days.

Thankful

I am so thankful for my family and friends and pets. Not just on Thanksgiving either, but every day. We tried to get together at least once a month or once a week. So many good ideas are shared. It’s like a hot cup of coffee and a slice of pie when you need it.

Middle of October

Still waiting to go to the Pumpkin Patch and Maze. So many great things to do here in the Fall. Still working on my October to do list. Halfway through October and I have yet to make caramel apples. Or I could make candy apples. So many great things to do. I need to get some more things done. So stopping here so I can work on the list.

I’m all in for Fall

Of all the four seasons Fall is my favorite. I love seeing the leaves change colors. I love the crisp cool air with a touch of wood smoke. The way my yard gets a new carpet made of leaves in orange, yellow and red. The way you can see further ahead in the woods. Due to the leaves fallen off the trees. Sitting around a campfire, singing songs, hay rides to the pumpkin patch. The lonely whistle of the train as it pulled away from the train station. The bats flying around the night sky. The owls hooting in the trees. One of the few reasons I love Fall.

Last day of September

This is the last day of September. Did I get done the things I wanted to do? Yes. It was a full month of changes, some sadness, some joy. All in all, a September I will remember.

The end of Summer days

The Summer days are winding down. The leaves are starting to change in trees. Cooler weather at night. Sales for Fall are here in the stores now. Fall decor and Halloween candy is already on the shelves. Someone commented, “at least they are not putting out Christmas displays yet.” The pumpkins are on sale. Both kinds of pumpkins, ones for decorating and ones for baking. There are ads in the paper for Hayrides and Pumpkin Patches. Apple cider is sold more in the stores. The summer clothes are on clearance and the Fall clothes are on sale. I am happy when I see the leaves fall from the trees. I cannot wait to go on the first hayride. Go visit the first pumpkin patch and see the way they have their displays set up. I love the summertime. I love Fall a little bit more.

Hope for the future

Waking up before the crack of dawn. Looking at the new books. Wanting to go to the library today. Checking out librares online. So many libraries to visit. I love libraries. We have some of the best in the world here n the United States. I cannot wait to see the new books list for the month. I check out the recommended reading list that people have posted. So I am going to stop here, and read some chapters. Just knowing we have libraries. It gives me hope for the future.

Thursday triple

I got a call from early this morning. It made my day and my husbands day. The call was , I didn’t have to go into work early. So with that. He went back to bed. I stayed up and read the newspaper. I didn’t get to finish the paper. So now I got to. Mike and I had a discussion of newspapers yesterday. How a lot of people go online now to read the newspaper. I told Mike I still like the printed word in my hand. I want a newspaper that I can turn the pages. I want to read a book that requires a bookmark to hold my place. I go into a bookstore. And I close my eyes and smile. I think of the next book I can buy. When I visit my public library. I close my eyes again when I sit in one of the chairs. Thinking of all the books I get to read. When I really like the book. I head to our bookstore to buy it. I want to own that particular book. And so it goes, part of my legacy will be she loved books. She really loved libraries and bookstores.

Cities in California San Francisco

Looking up cities online in the United States. San Francisco, California is one of the most beautiful cities. Amazed at the homes there. Such nice places to visit in the area.

All the museums there. The restaurants to visit after you do some shopping. Still checking out the area. I will update this blog later on.

August ice cream

As the summer months wind down, I take my dogs for a car ride. We went and got some ice cream last week. Today it was just a car ride. We traveled past the restaurants. They love the smell of the food cooking. We go past a park and they hear the kids playing. They see someone walking their dog. All of a sudden they want to go for a walk. So we come back home, they get a walk in their own yard.

Hail in August

Some crazy weird weather we are having. I’m having a great day at work. Then the rain hits and it’s a hard rain. It came from the west. It crushed my lilies that grew along the edge of my yard. I am praying that we don’t get rain because the food festival is here.

Cicadas in the yard

I love the sound cicadas make when they are outside. I remember going to a park. I had a picnic supper there. After the meal. I just closed my eyes and listened to the cicadas. Then headed home. It was a good night.

What's a name

Off all the different ways to say one thing. You wonder what's in a name. Like a casserole is called hot dish in other parts of the U.S.A. Once more I have done research on this. Going to look up more recipes. I love to cook and bake.

Sunny June

It’s nice when you finally have some sun. At least we didn’t have snow in April like last year. Glad to have my yard mowed. Having the day off makes it a bonus. With all the sunshine we have now. It’s a shame to waste it indoors. So having a picnic at home outside.

Finally some sunlight

Rain is good. Yet after many days of rain. We finally got some sunshine. So I mowed the yard. Took the dogs out for ice cream earlier. So there are hopefully many days of sunshine ahead.

10 more days

Here it is 10 days since my last post. Guess what? We still have rain. So much that the rain comes down in steady heavy drips. Then like a fine mist. But always the rain. If you do get a brief period of sunshine, you have to mow the lawn. I smile knowing that the rain is good for the earth. God could send a portion of it to somewhere the have droughts. Lets see what happens in 10 more days. See if we have rain some more.

May rain and gloom

It's been raining quite a lot. When the weekend gets here and you think you can go outside, it rains. Makes for a gloomy day. So I find things to do. Play fetch with my dog. Hide and seek with the treats. Smiling when he acts aloof. (I think he's been hanging out with the cat more.) The refrigerator is his friend. He sees me walking to the kitchen and has to follow me. He is such a cutie. Today it's going to rain all day. For the next four days actually. The weekend is going to be cloudy. Hoping for a sunny weekend.

End of April

It’s almost less than a week to go, and it’s the end of April. A quart of the year is already gone. So much promise at the beginning of the second quarter. So basically I have five days left. To get done what I need to do in April. Lot of things to do. Get the main three things done per day.

April flowers

I like seeing all flowers in bloom. It’s said, ‘April showers bring May flowers.’ Here, in April, there are so many flowers you think it was the Rose Parade. All the colors of the rainbow.

April rain

For the next time, any flowers that need to be planted. Will be in baskets first, then replanted outside. I am looking forward to all the flowers blooming. I imagine this corner here and I this corner there all different kinds of flowers in my yard.

March madness

Here it is the end of the month. Watching the games on television. Wanting to watch my favorite sports teams live. Have to wait. Spring is here. So is the Spring training for baseball. Due to Covid-19 there are no watching the games live. It was hard to drive past the baseball field last year. Seeing the scoreboard and all the lights on. Knowing we have to wait till it’s safe to watch an actual live game. To sit in the stands with a hotdog and beer. Cheer on your favorite team along with the other fans. Having a great time! Then leaving the parking lot, discussing the best plays with friends in the car.  Finally home and laying down to sleep. Having a smile on my face, just knowing it was a great day.

Humming along

After a long trip. Attending a funeral. Seeing relatives and friends. Coming back home and seeing my dogs. It's amazing how things are. No matter what, life keeps humming along.

March winds

So far very mild winds. The warmer weather is nice. Not too cold. Just right it was 62 degrees in the afternoon. Made for a great day.

Light in February

There was a scene in a television show. Where everyone was affected by not enough sunshine in the northern winter months. Some had to wear a light visor. Some just dealt with it the best they could. One person went around and borrowed lamps and other lights in to create a massive art display. This artist had the town smiling in the big reveal. The ones that had donated, searched for their lamp or lights. The looks on their faces as they were in awe of this light display. May we be like these people. Keep searching for light, in a world that can be dark and cold. Contributing light to get others to smile. Become an artist.

New Year 2021

It’s the first day of the New Year. How will today end? The thing is, I don’t know how it will end. Just looking for little things that make me happy like my dog wagging his tail. Especially when I ask him, “do you want to go for a car ride?” Or when the cat meows and nudges her treat bag. Then I go and give her a treat. It’s little moments like this that makes any year great. Looking forward to more moments that make me happy.
