November rain

 If it was any colder, the rain we have would become snow. One reason I like rain, it’s good for watching very old movies. 

October weather winds

 Busy couple of months. October is here so cooler weather. I am so happy for this. 

July frisbee

 It’s the first of July and I need to buy a frisbee. We use to have one. It was very old. Now we need to buy a new one. Summer month, lots of picnics and yard games. Fishing and cookouts. The small jars made of glass to catch fireflies. Seeing how many you can catch in 5 minutes. Then releasing them back into the night air. The smell of food cooked over a wood fire. Making s’mores for dessert. The evening winding down. Standing and stretching. The sounds of lawn chairs being folded back up. Making your way back to the house. Finally all tucked into bed. Waiting until next weekend when you can do all of this again.

June is for picnics

 At last Summer is here. I like the month of June for picnics mostly. We are learning new recipes to try. Bottom line is there is going to be a lot of food in the picnic basket. I am happy baking and eating some new cookies I have never tried before. 

Last minutes in May

May flowers

 The spring flowers are blooming. Having time to do more gardening. I am so happy we have sunny breezy days. There were some really bad tornados. We didn’t have that. We did have some flash flood warnings. At least we rain for the crops. We need the rain.

Cat shenanigans

 I was going to write this on St. Paddy’s Day. The cat has being acting more like a cat (if that is possible) than before. She meows for food, for her treats sprinkled into her bowl. When her food bowl and water bowl is filled. She meows because she wants some company. She gets head pats and chin scratches. Then then the shenanigans start.

March madness

 It’s game on and I like it. One of my favorite teams is playing. They are doing very well. I like sports. One day I would like to attend a game. 

Wild weather and happy dogs

 It’s cold with temperatures below zero. The dogs don’t get to go for long walk. Yet they do get their daily walk in. One time we visited three parks. They like it when we go for a car ride, we go to visit other towns. They have a long walk in those parks also. Later on the way back home, we stop for a pup cup. Then when we arrive home they get their paws cleaned. Then, they have their supper. Spring is around the corner. Also allergies, so I have to watch for those little runny noses. So when we go out in Spring time. They will still get their paws wiped down after a walk. Get their coats brushed down outside by the door, so they don’t track in pollen. If someone says, “I wouldn’t get a dog.” For me it’s those happy barks when I get closer to the door. And those wagging tails and slobbery kisses when they jump up in my lap. Totally worth it to own a dog.

 Of all the guys in the work. My favorite guys are, my two dogs.

February highlights

 So far, we are supposed to get an early Spring. The snow is almost melted away. Having a good look at the seed catalogs. Buying some flower seeds to brighten up my yard. Looking at new recipes to make. There are a couple of new board games to check out. I want to buy two of them. We play board games after Sunday family brunch. I am happy that the family all gets together at least once a month. Going to make a Strawberry Shortcake for dessert tonight.

Massive snow

 There was a massive winter storm. It was pretty bad. Today, we are still getting snow. So much that yesterday, the roads were iced over. Reports today are we have a winter storm warning until a certain time frame. Eight days left in January and the snow keeps coming. Wondering what next month will bring. Right now I am just grateful it’s not worse.

Happy New Year 2024

Happy New Year! For the past two months I haven’t written any thing here. Life has been busier than I thought. I do get down time. Only it’s devoted to other things and projects I am working on. 

Sewing takes up a lot of time. Cooking takes up a lot of time. I love to read. So that takes up time. I read cookbooks. Check out cookbooks at the library. Creating the recipes. Spending time with my dogs and family members takes up time, we have brunches. Play board games afterwards. Exercising takes up time. My job takes up a huge portion of time. Doing research takes up time. Writing on the research I do take up time. Spending time outside doing gardening takes up time. Visiting places in the state I live in takes up time. Writing book reports takes up time. Painting or drawing a picture takes up time. Volunteer work takes up time. Learning a musical instrument takes up time. 

I keep saying the word time and writing the word time. Time is precious. You always think you have time. I’ll do this next time. Or when I get the time, then I will get this done. A lot of things that take up my time are things I need to do now. Like when I go on break on my job. I do research on the new quilt I will make. I read recipes on my phone. Meals I will make next week. Read a book. Thinking about how the characters in the book. Writing a book takes time. 

I budget time, try to get many things done as much as possible. 

When I walk the dogs I watch what they are doing. My one dog wants to chase the squirrels. My other dog could be bothered. He could have a job as an archeologist. He is always digging. When we leave the park. I take them to get ice cream or pup cups. Or we go to the pet store to buy a bag of treats. Time with them makes me smile. 

Life isn’t easy. You have to have time for yourself. Just sit and breathe and listen to the world around you. My favorite place to do this is in a park. 

So precious is time. If I had a Time Machine I would go and visit the people I loved and lost. Time doesn’t allow for returns like this. So we can only go forward. Use the time we have. Take the time for love. It’s the greatest thing we can do.
